Question : |
Are you anything to do with Dolphin Bathrooms? |
No, we are a completely independent group of companies, specialising
in stairlifts and equipment for the less able. |
Question : |
Do stairlifts fit to the walls or the stairs? |
All currently manufactured stairlifts fit to the tread of the
stairs, except one or two wheelchair stair lifts (mainly for public
buildings). |
Question : |
What happens if there is a power cut? |
The lift will stop, unless you have a battery powered lift.
Question : |
How do I change the batteries, if I buy a battery powered lift? |
Some manufacturers have a constant charge, others automatically
recharge when the lift is at the top or bottom of the stairs.
Question : |
Can a stairlift go round corners? |
Yes. They can be manufactured to fit most staircases, but the price
of a curved stairlift is much higher than a straight one and will
attract a very minimal buy back value. |
Question : |
Are there any cheaper alternatives? |
We can supply a reconditioned chair and motor and have a new track
made to measure. In some cases a folding platform may be used to
bridge a step or two at the top. |
Question : |
Where can I get advice as to which lift to buy, or whether a
stairlift is right for me? |
The occupational therapy department of your local social services,
or disability living centres. |
Question : |
Do I have to pay for a quotation? |
No. Most suppliers will provide free quotations. However, beware of
hard sales techniques, special one off offers etc. They are not
always what they seem. |

Advice
Dolphin Stairlifts Sales Advice
-
Never
buy a stairlift from someone who tries to make you buy that day.
-
If
you are getting several quotations, make sure they are 'like for like'
quotes ie: same model, age etc.
-
If
you are buying a new or reconditioned stairlift from someone who does
not manufacture, make sure they are approved suppliers, as they may be
unable to obtain new parts if not.
-
Check
what is included in the warranty eg: does '24 hour call-out' mean call
out attendance 24 hours a day, or within 24 hours?
-
Are
you paying too much? New stairlifts start as low as £1600 - including
installation.
